EUSR Impressed Voltage Awareness Course

Course details

Our EUSR  Impressed Voltage Awareness training course provides essential knowledge for safely working near National Grid assets where impressed voltage (IV) hazards exist. This Impressed Voltage training equips you to recognise, assess and mitigate impressed voltage risks in accordance with industry standards.

Course Duration – Half Day

Why Choose Our EUSR Impressed Voltage Awareness Training?

This EUSR Impressed Voltage Awareness training course is designed to meet National Grid’s requirements and industry best practice. Delivered by experienced trainers, the course ensures you fully understand how to identify, assess and control impressed voltage hazards safely.

The course is designed to raise the awareness and understanding of ALL THOSE ENGAGED IN THE DELIVERY OF A PROJECT – with regards to Impressed Voltages. Where and how they can occur, and what the dangers are. Actively work to negate ALL incidents relating to Impressed Voltages.

Whether you’re a contractor, engineer, or site operative working on or near National Grid infrastructure, impressed voltage awareness training is essential to stay compliant and safe.

What You’ll Learn on the IV Training Course

By completing this EUSR-approved IV training course, you will:

  • Gain EUSR certification in Impressed Voltage Awareness
  • Understand the principles and risks of impressed voltage
  • Recognise common sources of IV hazards on National Grid sites
  • Apply safe systems of work to manage and mitigate impressed voltage
  • Comply with National Grid impressed voltage awareness requirements
Improve site safety and reduce electrical risk exposure

Who Should Attend?

This impressed voltage awareness training is suitable for:

  • Contractors and operatives working on or near National Grid infrastructure
  • Engineers, supervisors and managers overseeing high-voltage projects
  • Utility workers, cable jointers, and excavation teams exposed to electrical hazards

Course Overview

To equip Operatives working on or near equipment where Impressed Voltages may present a danger – with the knowledge to be able to avoid an accident or incident.

Talk through the correct protocol, documents and permits needed to Safely Work on National Grid systems.

Course Content

  • This training will provide the information required for an individual to be able to recognise circumstances or situations where an Impressed voltage may be apparent on any Project.
  • It will equip all those accessing the site with the knowledge to be able to avoid the dangers presented by Impressed voltages.
  • It will enable individuals to recognise potentially dangerous situations and report concerns to the appropriate responsible person.
  • It will raise awareness of working in close proximity to High Voltage Cables, Overhead Power Lines, Substation and Power Generation equipment.
  • It will raise awareness of National Grid Working Practices and Supplier Requirement 234 (was TP234)

Assessment

A variety of activities, oral, multiple choice and written questions.

Certificates

Upon successful completion of the course and assessment, delegates are awarded EUSR (Energy & Utility Skills Register) Impressed Voltage Awareness — valid for 3 years.

They will be registered on the EUSR database and receive:

  • EUSR Card (plastic smart card or virtual card)
  • Listing on the EUSR Register of Certified Individuals

To remain certified, you will need to retake the assessment before the expiry date on your card.

National Grid Impressed Voltage Requirements

National Grid mandates that anyone working on or near their sites where impressed voltage hazards exist must complete approved impressed voltage training. This course helps you meet that compliance requirement with confidence.
